Hi Everyone!
Well, this is all very new and exciting, isn’t it? No? Oh …
Anyhue. Introductions first. I’m Matt and this is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time and it took the death of one of my favourite authors to prompt me to do it: Terry Pratchett died in 2015 after a long battle with alzheimer’s. One of the last books he published was a non-fiction collection of his articles, speeches and interviews and in this book, amongst too many fascinating musings to count, were his thoughts on writing. His basic message was ‘if you want to write, write’. So I did.
A bit late to the party, but so glad you’ve created this brilliant sounding bookiverse. I shall read with delight. Strangely I came up with a dystopian outline of my own a few months back, planning to write with a friend who is a drama teacher and interested in Atwood, Huxley and similar brilliant creatures. Good luck Matt, you deserve to be on the bookshelves of Waterstones and all the (better) independents ;D
Thanks Claire. Weirdly I only read The Handmaid’s Tale after I’d written Few. I’d read a number of Atwood’s novels before that (specifically the Madadam trilogy being a post-apocalypse nut) but only got around to Handmaid so I had read it before the TV version arrived! Strange how there’s such a feel of Handmaid’s world in the Librabbey of Few. Brave New World is a fave though – I have a first edition! Good luck with your book – let me know how you get on, mutual support and all that. And, more importantly, good luck with your other ‘creation’! x
